standing on a firm foundation?

We as Christian men are being challenged today more than ever in our culture on whether the Bible is a firm foundation on which to base anything of truth and value. A tidal wave of trouble is here in the evangelical church because many leaders no longer hold to the inerrancy and infallibility of the Word of God. How do we as followers of Jesus view the whole Bible? What do you do with absolute truth in a time where truth is relative to how you feel and what you want to believe, and therefore decide to base your life on? Can we know that there is a trustworthy and unshakeable foundation in which we can navigate all the affairs of our life? These are questions that many men are asking and struggling to answer in a time where the fault lines are separating drastically.

There is a major divide between those who take the Bible as the literal Word of God and those who view it figuratively or just symbolically. Therefore those social and cultural issues that have become the mecca of conversation and public thought are now more than ever further dictating what is really true and false. Social Justice, Critical Race Theory, BLM, Cultural Marxism, and others are now at the front lines of people’s primary truth. I am concerned that we as Christians are losing our compass, our plumb line. If Jesus Christ according to the Bible is no longer the unshakeable foundation for everything that we hold to be true, then what is? How do we navigate complex issues of racism and prejudice from a Biblical point of view that speaks louder and clearer than any other line of thought or philosophy that is being taught? We must know without a shadow of a doubt that the Word of God is our ultimate source of truth and hope to navigate all the complex current issues that our world and culture are facing.

Men of God. I challenge you to take a stand on what you believe, and why you believe it. I challenge you to be a voice of truth in your family, your community, your workplace. Don’t succumb to the fear of man or the fear of being ostracized and therefore keep silent on what you know to be true. It doesn’t mean we have to know all the answers, but we must know the One who does hold the keys to life and death and our ultimate purpose and reason we exist.
